Removable braces.
Removable braces use the growth of children and teenagers to steer jaw and teeth in the right direction.

( Removable braces )
How removable braces work.
A removable brace consists of a plastic base with wire elements and often a small screw. It is made individually to fit your child’s teeth – in our own laboratory, with short distances between dental technology and treatment.
Depending on the findings, the brace widens the jaw, keeps space free for permanent teeth or influences how upper and lower jaw sit in relation to each other. Because it can be taken out, success depends above all on wearing it as agreed.
( At a glance )
What speaks for it.
- 01
From our laboratory
Our dental technicians make every brace on site – repairs are quick, too.
- 02
Using growth
While the jaw is growing, its development can be influenced gently.
- 03
Easy to clean
The brace comes out for eating and brushing – teeth and brace stay clean.
- 04
Individually designed
Your child can help choose the colour and motif. That helps them enjoy wearing the brace.
( Good to know )
Good to know: wearing and care.
How many hours a day the brace is worn is something we decide individually and discuss with your child and you. A few simple rules help in everyday life:
- Wear the brace as agreed – usually in the afternoon and at night
- Take it out for eating and sport and keep it in its case
- Clean it daily with a toothbrush and cold water
- Give us a quick call if it causes pressure points or gets bent
( Process )
Removable braces – step by step.
- 01
Examination
We check whether and when a removable brace makes sense for your child.
- 02
Scan or impression
A 3D scan or an impression serves as the template for the laboratory.
- 03
Fitting & explaining
We fit the brace and practise putting it in and taking it out with your child.
- 04
Check-ups
At regular appointments we adjust the brace and watch the growth.
( Costs )
What does insurance cover?
For children and teenagers, statutory health insurance covers the costs when treatment is medically necessary. Early treatment before the permanent teeth come through is covered only for certain findings.
Before treatment starts we discuss with you which services insurance covers and which additional services may be worthwhile.
Good questions, clear answers
Is your question not listed? Give us a call or ask at your first appointment.
How long does a removable brace have to be worn each day?
We decide that individually. What counts is regularity: a brace that stays in its case moves nothing.
Can my child speak normally with the brace?
In the first days pronunciation often sounds unfamiliar. That usually passes quickly – reading aloud helps with getting used to it.
What if the brace presses, no longer fits or is broken?
Call us. Please do not bend anything back yourself – our laboratory repairs or adjusts the brace.
Does a removable brace replace fixed braces?
Not always. It can simplify or shorten later treatment. Some tooth movements, however, only work with fixed braces or aligners.
