Professional cleaning.
Even with the best care, plaque stays where toothbrush and floss can barely reach – all the more with braces or a retainer. During a professional cleaning we remove it gently and thoroughly.

How the cleaning works.
First we remove hard and soft deposits – with fine hand instruments and ultrasound, also between the teeth and around brackets, wires and retainers. We then gently lift stains with air polishing and polish the tooth surfaces smooth, so new plaque sticks less easily.
Finally we apply a fluoride varnish that strengthens the enamel. We also show you which brushes and techniques suit your appliance – so your teeth stay clean until the next appointment.

What speaks for it.
- 01
More thorough than brushing
We reach the spots where plaque always survives brush and floss.
- 02
Ideal with braces
Brackets, wires and retainers create niches for plaque – a professional cleaning helps prevent white spots and gum inflammation.
- 03
Smooth, fresh teeth
Polishing removes stains from coffee, tea or tobacco and makes teeth look brighter.

( Costs )
What does insurance cover?
Professional teeth cleaning is usually a private service. Many statutory health insurers contribute an annual subsidy, and private supplementary insurance often covers it in full, depending on the plan.
We tell you the costs in advance. It is best to ask your health insurer what subsidy it offers.
Good questions, clear answers
Is your question not listed? Give us a call or ask at your first appointment.
Does a professional cleaning hurt?
Usually not. With sensitive teeth or inflamed gums it can be uncomfortable in places – let us know and we will work especially gently.
How often should I come?
Two appointments a year usually make sense. With fixed braces or a retainer we often recommend shorter intervals – we discuss this individually.
How long does the appointment take?
About 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the findings.
Can I have it during orthodontic treatment?
Yes, especially then. We clean gently around brackets and wires without damaging the appliance.
